It is so well-liked that numerous video games were created back in the 2000s in its honour, including 'The Simpsons: Hit & Run'.
Having been released in 2003, the game was a major success, centred around the Simpson family uncovering an alien conspiracy, and there could be good news for fans who still enjoy playing it all these years later.
The producer of the original game Vlad Ceraldi has teased that it could be remastered or remade.
Ceraldi told LADbible: 'I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster. It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.'

Reflecting on how the game was received 17 years ago, Ceraldi claimed that he knew straight away that it was going to be a hit, eluding to how it can be enjoyed by players of all ages.
'As far as why it stood the test of time, I think it's a game that kids could play, adults could play, anyone who was fans of the show could try and laugh and have fun with,' he said.
Whilst Ceraldi has admitted that discussions regarding a potential remake have yet to reach a serious stage, he appears open to the idea, and was keen to point out that previous remastering of games have shown that it can be done successfully.

'It's come up before in discussions but not seriously, usually at the pub, just talking about the idea of some of the magic that was captured and the potential ability to recapture it in a new way with a different audience, with a different generation of devices.
'There's masters out there like Nintendo and other companies who have nailed it time and time again, so it would be wonderful to reinvest in how you can control the characters, how you can control the world, how much of the world you can explore in detail,' Ceraldi said.
