This title is also known as:
The Konami Code from the original Contra was not included in this game. A different code was added which gives out thirty lives in the Famicom version and ten lives in the NES versions. Like in the Famicom version of Contra, the Japanese Super Contra has a stage select code that was removed from its NES counterparts. All three versions contain.

Super Contra is an arcade game developed and published by Konami in 1988, also ported for Nintendo Entertainment in 1990. This installment is a sequel to the legendary Contra (1987) and the story continues the missions of Bill and Lance. In this case they must stop the alien force that attacked an allied base and possessed all its occupants. Super Contra is a Run and Gun-style action game produced by Konami, originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1988. It is the sequel to the original Contra and the second game in the Contra series released for the arcades. Like in the original game, the game centers on soldiers Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, who are once again assigned.
A variant of this software exists, known as ‘Probotector’, and is listed separately due to significant differences.
Unlimited lives
When ‘Jungle’ appears on the demonstration screen, press Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, A, B, Select then Start to get unlimited lives.
30 Lives
On the title screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, then Start.
Transfer Lives
In 2 player mode, press A and B when you lose a life to gain one from the other player.
All Weapons
On the title screen, press Down, Down, Up, Up, Right, Left, Right, Left, A then B.
Level Select
On the main menu, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start then Start to access the level select.
Hidden Message
During the ending sequence, before the credits begin, hold Select and Start. Keep these buttons held down until the credits end and you will see a message from Red Falcon.
Expert Mode
To access expert mode, you must complete the entire game. You will then continue playing from the start again but with harder enemies.

Hint: Shoot while crouching
To crouch while shooting, Crouch on controller 1 and press Up on controller 2 in the Base 1 or 2 levels.
Hint: Cross bridges in Level 1
To get across bridges in Level 1, jump on them while holding Right.
Get a blast from the past and get gritty in this old-school side scrolling shooter game! Shoot all your enemies and avoid getting shot in Contra! Play as the tough macho dude Bill Rizer and proceed to assault an island fortress and destroy everything that moves.
Contra - Play Game Online - Arcade Spot
Contra is a classic 1987 sidescrolling shooter known for its nefarious difficulty. Although not as hard as other titles in the same console, this game is considered as an entry to the hardcore arcade gamer title. Avoid bullets, boulders, lasers, fireballs, and aliens as you play the commando agent Bill Rizer (Lance Bean for player 2). Complete dozens of levels and defeat the game bosses that are located at the end.

If you are having trouble completing the game, you may utilize the “Konami Code” cheat:
“Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start”
This gives the player 30 lives to start instead of the normal 3.
