Fans of the planetary popular TV series The Simpsons have been craving for another The Simpsons: Hit and Run game for many years now. However, FOX, who own The Simpsons IP, have been silent on the matter and it seems that a new game will remain just a dream for many players.

Back in October 2019, producer Vlad Ceraldi said that the game could make a spectacular return on different platforms as a remake or remaster. He even admitted that Hit and Run revival has been discussed previously but not in a professional manner.
'It’s come up before in discussions but not seriously, usually at the pub, just talking about the idea of some of the magic that was captured and the potential ability to recapture it in a new way with a different audience, with a different generation of devices,' he explained.
Well, it looks like these discussions may have reached a professional level if the latest rumour from Reddit is true. The post, which includes the info has been quickly deleted but not before someone grabbed a screenshot . The rumour is mostly focused on some big AAA titles like Far Cry 6 and new Lara Croft game, but right at the end of the post, it states that 'The Simpsons: Hit and Run Remaster is in the works'.
Now, we suggest you take this with a hefty pinch of salt just like any other rumour, leak or unconfirmed info. We have not heard a word about The Simpsons game franchise ever since the 2007 title and it is quite possible that that will be the case for the foreseeable future as well.
That being said, even a slight hint of Hit and Run remaster would get us properly excited, so excuse us for starting the hype train based on a mere Reddit rumour. We want it that bad.

During a recent interview with IGN, Matt Selman confirmed that he would love to see a remastered version of The Simpsons Hit and Run. According to the co-showrunner, there are a lot of corporate details that would make remastering the classic game difficult, but there are people on the inside that would like to see it happen. Many fans have been clambering for a new Simpsons game and this doubtlessly fills them with hope.
Although Matt Selman isn't much of a gamer, the co-showrunner of The Simpsons has fond memories of working on The Simpsons Hit and Run. Apparently one of the big arguments in the development of the game was whether or not it would allow players to get out of their vehicles and roam around. The Simpsons Hit and Run gives players the flexibility to get in and out of their vehicles, but this was originally in question.
According to Matt Selman, many people were playing Grand Theft Auto when The Simpsons Hit and Run was made, which inspired the development of the game. The Simpsons Hit and Run is a sandbox action open-world developed by Radical Entertainment. The developers created a sandbox open-world Springfield that players could explore without restraint.
In order to remaster The Simpsons Hit and Run, the owners of The Simpsons IP would have to make the ultimate decision. Matt Selman claimed that a developer would also have to want to make the remaster, which may suggest that a different team than the original would be involved with the remaster. Selman has been involved in many Simpsons games, including The Simpsons Game, The Simpsons Tapped Out, and The SimpsonsHit and Run.
Radical Entertainment has also worked on titles such as Crash of the Titans, Prototype, and Scarface. The team had prior experience on Simpsons games with The Simpsons Road Rage which was heavily inspired by Crazy Taxi. Considering Radical Entertainment still exists, the developer may end up being called for a remaster of The Simpsons Hit and Run. With co-showrunner of The Simpsons being interested in a Hit and Run remastered, the title may have a future.
